life’s little irritations #5

When the color on the box is nothing like the color it turns out on your hair.

<deep sigh>

I naturally have very (? it’s hard to remember!) dark hair, but with a few bright white bits of fishing line hairs thrown in. I typically just do highlights to distract you from blend the gray. I’ve did some crazy highlights over the winter so when I started to see roots I thought that this time I thought I’d just do an all over color, lighter than my natural shade, but slightly darker than my highlights. I also wanted it a little more red. Doesn’t “medium auburn” sound about right? It did to me. But, no. It might as well have been labeled dark blah.

On a different note - I have something fun coming up later this week! Here’s a hint.

    I’m convinced that hair color on boxes is intentionally wrong and that it’s a big conspiracy with the salons.

    I thought the color Champagne Cocktail sounded perfect….it should have been named Mouse Mane.

    They should put this on the box of red hair dye: Natural blondes should not use this product. The end result will be hot pink hair just in time for a family wedding.

    Awe. Some.

    Cass, I’m usually good at conspiracy theories but I didn’t even think of that! Mouse Mane - yikes!

    Nicole, I was trying to be cheap. Not that it did me any good. I’m sure Serena is WAY better!

    AndreAnna, hot pink hair? OMG. That reminds me of something terrible I did to one of my sister’s hair, right before the other sister’s wedding. It involved a highlight kit, and a good inch of roots. She will never forgive me. Thanks for stopping by!

    Nearly every color I put on my hair turns out reddish. I decided I like my hair red. Makes life a lot easier.

    Hi JJ, yep, my hair always turns some kind of red too. It’s just how dark or how light, or how orange (!) is the question.
